Ingelheim to Wörth am Main

First of all … I forgot to take photos today. I only have four. Sorry … Back to the action.

We had breakfast at a table near the river, and it was a bit cool to start with. The singer was gone this morning and everything felt right with the world again.

That didn’t last long as Miles had another couple of punctures in the first km or so. We were a kilometre and a half from a railway station so we slowly made our way there, then got on the next train to Mainz where there was a bike repair place near the station. Miles got a new tyre and a couple of tubes. The wire bead had separated and was puncturing the tube. Problem solved now.

With that out of the way, we got some lunch and ate it at the train station while waiting for a train to Aschaffenburg. Here we would ride for a while down the Main and then the Tauber. We had decided that the Romantische Strasse might be more exciting. It was to start with – the trail out of Aschaffenburg was really nice with lots of apple trees full of apples. While they weren’t exactly sweet, they were nice and fresh.

There weren’t as many people on this path, but they still weren’t smiling. Must be something in the water.

Along the way, we stopped at a supermarket and got food for dinner. I managed to break the yoghurt container in the shop. We got a new one, but the rest of our goods had to be wiped down. The checkout lady wasn’t impressed at all.

We made it to a nice campground by the Main river where Miles and Clare got a cabin and I pitched my tent – not before patching my sleeping mat yet again.

We had dinner at the table outside the cabin. The evening was stunning – blue sky, crisp and quiet. Fingers crossed for my sleeping mat.

I think Clare took this photo, while laughing at my chair.
