What a fantastic day. I was one of only two guests at the place I stayed at in Cabras. It was great, and the included breakfast set me up for the morning. It’s always a nice surprise when a guesthouse includes breakfast. I’m sure they lose money on it when cyclists stay though.

Not sure if it was me or Komoot, but I took about four wrong turns on my way out of Cabras. Finally, I got onto a bike path which brought me into Oristano. I’d made a mistake planning this ride, as the GPS wanted to take me on a loop into Oristano, then out and back again. Can’t blame anyone else for that. I chose the one that I thought took me into the centre but clearly chose the wrong one and I was soon on the way out of town.
Every cloud … There was a supermarket on the way, so I got the food for the day and carried on.

Past San Giusto, things got more rural, the roads quietened down and I started to really enjoy the ride.

I passed through rural areas and there was lots of undulating countryside interspersed with small villages. Some of the villages looked like they’d been renovated with paving, cobbles and signage to historical sites. I was passing by a number of sites related to the Nuraghe structures built by the ancient Sardinians.

The last part of the trip went through lush green farms and again, I was happy to be riding at this time of the day – as the sun starts to lower and the colours change. It was a clear beautiful day and the ride was fun.

Villamar was a little strange. It has a winding pedestrian thoroughfare from one end of town to the other. It looks like they’ve ripped out the old train line and made this. It was very quiet with only a few people around. Once again – lots of buildings but very little activity.

I’d booked a room and was the only occupant in the whole place. I did the usual walk around the town and saw what is becoming the usual here + old buildings, lots of building work happening but not many people on the streets. Still, it looks like a nice place.

Dinner was at a restaurant nearby. What a friendly bunch of people. Nobody spoke a word of english, they couldn’t have been nicerand the food was delicious.
