Days 17, 18 – to Bungendore

Day 17 – Yass to Canberra.

This was a nice day, but the ride felt hard the whole way. Nice undulating countryside to the outskirts of Canberra, then four days resting and touristing in the capital.

Day 18 – Canberra to Bungendore

A light drizzle went on for most of the day. I dropped in for coffee at Kingston and took bikeways most of the way to Queanbeyan where I went off road through a forest. I should have looked more closely at the map !

I rejoined the road through some rolling hills before turning left for the last 20kms to Bungendore (with the wind behind me). I was so looking forward to this stretch, it was going to be the highlight. 200m later, the Molonglo river had cut the road and was 1.2m deep, so I detoured and some time later, my friend Ross picked me up. I was so happy for that, and to again stay with Ross and Penny and Rambo.
