Days 26,27 – to Batlow

Day 26 Colac Colac to Paddy’s River Flats
Today started with an easy run into Corryong for an early second breakfast (a toastie of course). Then I headed to the Murray and over the border to NSW.

It was flat for a few minutes, but brother it was steep for the rest of the day. 5% feels like a downhill after a few kms of 10%+.

Strategic mid-climb rest

I was very happy to arrive at Paddys River campground and have a dip in the river. This is a ritual I’d like to continue but I’ll be staying in a few towns over coming days. I filtered some water and then ate a big meal. This was all done in slow motion after the efforts of the day.

Day 27 – Paddys River to Batlow
The weather was indecisive this morning but the day turned out well. A friend (Dennis) told me to check out Paddy’s River Falls, but after heading down a steep road for a km or so and being only half way, I gave up. I really didn’t want to have to climb all that way out of the place. Nice try Dennis, but I’m not falling for that one šŸ™‚

Second breakfast was in Tumbarumba and I decided to continue on to Batlow because of the predicted bad weather this week. Besides, it was too early to stop for the day.

Who makes these predictions ??? Because the weather was absolutely perfect.

It was a tedious ride into Batlow ( I was fatigued and sick of the hills and logging trucks) but once I crested the last hill, the downhill into town was superb.

Tonight the predictions were finally right. It bucketed down and I was pleased I had a room at the local pub.
