Days 4-9 to Narromine

Since last Thursday, lots has been happening. I made it to Dubbo, then a group of us rode the Central West Cycle Trail and I’m now in Narromine.

Day 4 started a little wet, but I was pleased to leave Yeoval and head towards Dubbo. It was a quiet ride with no towns in between, so I was dying for a coffee by the time I got to Dubbo. That night, 7 of us gathered at Chris and Lucys place, to start the Central West Cycle trail the next day.

Day 5 was from Dubbo to Mendooran. Nice roads and trails and it included a swim in a dam at lunchtime. We stayed at the Royal Hotel.

Day 6 took us to Gulgong, on a day with everything. Great coffee, food, friendly folks in Dunedoo, torrential rain, a stop at the farm at Mayfield (lovely people), then more wind and rain and dirt roads before reaching out destination.

Day 7 was Gulgong to Wellington – a really enjoyable day. We had dinner and drinks at a very old pub on the edge of town.

Day 8 was the last of the CWCT with a ride back to Dubbo to complete the loop. We celebrated with some great food and wine. Wonderful hosts and great group of friends.

Day 9 was interesting. I said goodbye to everyone and went into the centre of Dubbo where we were lashed by wild storms. I wanted to get to Narromine but I nearly bailed before I started. Luckily, the weather cleared and I made it to Narromine completely dry and luckily beat the storms by an hour. The local magpies had a field day today.
