Henley Beach to Hahndorf

What a day. I left Henley Beach along the Esplanade on a cool, cloudless and serene morning – late as usual.

One wrong turn landed me on a golf course and I was responsible for one guy duffing his approach shot, as I exited an underpass and skidded to a halt. He wasn’t happy.

I finally made it to the outskirts of Adelaide and there was simply no escaping the dramatic uphill which ensued. Breathtaking in many ways.

I met some locals who pointed out a lookout which was simply spectacular even though it was only two thirds up to the summit. Mt. Lofty summit was stunning too.

After that it was undulating through the hills to Hahndorf, a strange tourist town. I say strange because there are some wonderful things but overall it’s touristy nature just doesn’t do it for me. However, I did sample some nice German beers and later, the night got progressively colder in my tent.
