I was on the road before 7am today for the 113kms on what I thought would would be a quite boring ride until getting to Pekan after 86kms.
I was hungry and had two meals back to back at different restaurants. Pekan seems like a very nice place and I’m disappointed that I couldn’t find any accommodation due to the long weekend. However, I headed off to tackle the last 28kms with a belly full of Roti, Nasi Goreng and coffee.
About 5kms north of Pekan, a lady with two kids in the car pulled up beside me and insisted I come to their place and eat, as part of Hari Raya. I couldn’t say no, so I met all three generations of the family, ate and talked. What wonderful generous people. Thanks CaHaya and Zuliana !
That made it 3 lunches in the one town and I felt like I’d been continuously eating for hours. This worked out well, as I discovered that the only food within 5kms of the hotel was a small corner store. There was a jug in the room, so I had Maggi noodles and a large tin of fruit cocktail for dinner. Sleep was easy after a day like this.
