Lamphun to Chiang Mai – 31kms

After last night’s dinner, breakfast was equally forgettable. There were some interesting offcuts in the pork and noodle soup.

Today was a 28km (or so… i can make any ride longer with my navigation skills) meander into Chiang Mai along small country and village lanes with a little traffic at the end.

Along the canal

It was noticeably cooler too, which was most welcome. And meander is exactly what it was. Tiny lanes, canals, villages… It had it all.

I have been to Chiang Mai ten years ago, so I was looking forward to seeing if the place had changed much. I know it’s low season, but there seem to be far less tourists, lots of empty or closed restaurants and plenty of spare tuk tuks sitting around. I hope it picks up for the locals’ sake.

More country lanes

My bike part is yet to arrive, so I’m hoping for Monday which gives me plenty of planning time for the trip out of Thailand and through Laos.

Chiang Mai

Time to relax with a few lazy days which means sleeping and eating and sleeping and eating and … zzzzz

My digs
