I was underway by 7:30, and left the town as businesses were waking up. The highlight of the day was the stretch along the beach on the northern tip of Mersing. It was 5kms by the beach, cool in the shade and flat and quiet. Just perfect.
There were some small hills as the still quiet road headed through some forested jungle-ish areas. There were monkeys on the road but they left as I approached, and I was alone for large parts of this road.
This was followed by more beach, but the surrounding parks were strewn with rubbish. Throught this ride, I can’t help but think that this country would look far more beautiful if they simply picked up their rubbish and didn’t leave it everywhere.
As is usual now, I arrived well before check-in time, so I headed to the beach and found a nice park. After a while, I found a food place further up and had my first laksa of this trip – by the beach.
By the time I checked into the hotel, it was astinking hot and I was pleased to get into the aircon, clean up and have a nap.
For dinner, I went back to the beach to another place full of ever present friendly Malaysians.
