May 25 to Beech Forest
Today was always going to be interesting. I was generally follow the Great Ocean Road with some side tracks, so all was dependent on the traffic.
It turned out to be another great day – minimal traffic, a nice 15kms of farm road all to myself, then a long but fairly gentle climb to Laver’s Hill for a warm drink and something to eat. By that stage, I’d had enough and it was getting cold and I had another 17 or so kms to make it to the Old Beechy Pub for the night. More climbing through beautiful countryside, and at the end of it was a warm friendly pub with good food, a well earned beer, and clean, well appointed rooms. aahhhhh.
But the weather was closing in. The night was very cold and quite wet, which made me think about staying another night. Let’s fall off that bridge when we come to it !
