Snorkeling was first up. We went to two sites, the first of which was covered with crown of thorns starfish and most of the coral was dead; lots of interesting fish though. The second site was much better, a small island 100m of the beach. Lots of nice coral and fish, including a 2m shark that hung around. Now I’m getting used to them.
I went over to Juara in the afternoon and caught up with some great people met in Mersing. To get there, you take the only road literally over the top. It looks like 45 degrees in parts and I’d hate to walk it let alone try and ride it. It’s a 20 year old concrete road that goes for nearly 10 kms and took 2 years to build.
We ended up snorkeling just in front of their accom, and it was the most impressive site yet. … and no sharks that I saw. We had some dinner, said goodbye and I caught a ‘taxi’ back to the other side. The road at night was fun too.
