Another short day coming up.
I looked at the hotel breakfast that was included and shamefully turned my nose up at it. So I took bananas and milk to my room and ate muesli with juice and coffee.
I’ve been here a while and sometimes I just don’t feel like Chinese food. And occasionally, I feel the same about muesli !

I packed up and said goodbye to my mate the security guard and went downstairs to put my gear on the bike. The nice lady on reception came out and asked me about my trip, where I was from etc. Then I was off.

I knew there’d be no coffee here at this hour, so I headed west through the endless suburbs full of high-rise apartments and shops. At one point, I saw a lot of activity with cars parking and leaving and people walking around with food. Do I stopped to investigate and found a little place that did some great bao buns. Staff were great too, and the customers were surprised to see a westerner. I felt like my chopstick technique was being scrutinised. Early second breakfast done, I left.

It was all very easy from there with a bike / motorbike lane or little traffic. It stayed that way for 10kms until turning off towards Hutubi and then I was on a busy truck-laden road until near the town.
I pulled into some shade to check where the hotel was and nearly decapitated myself on some steel wire used for hanging lanterns. I suppose most of the population would pass under it with ease. It certainly woke me up.

The people at the hotel were nice but again the check-in procedure was length and there was a security guard with his scanner machine at the ready. Then it was time for some lunch.

My impression of Hutubi was that on Sunday afternoon, there wasn’t much going on. Venturing around the corner changed that idea completely. It’s again a nice place with plenty of shops, food and people around.
I spent the afternoon snoozing and replanning researching the onward journey.
